Reading Literacy Programs

Our K-6 Reading Literacy Program features the Scott Foresman’s Leveled Readers in Social Studies and Science Content. They teach the same social studies and science content at each student's reading level.  The content leveled readers per unit help you match books to your students' reading abilities, sparking their interest and inspire curiosity while building comprehension skills and important vocabulary. Below-Level, On-Level, and Advanced Readers all cover the same topic in Scott Foresman Social Studies and Science, keeping students focused on the same key social studies and science content. Every leveled reader includes a teacher's guide with graphic organizers that simplify lesson planning and instruction.  Units include six copies of each title.

Our 7-8th Grade Reading Literacy Program features the Prentice Hall Skill Builder Program.  It’s designed to improve your student's reading and writing skills!  The Literacy Skill Builder student workbooks feature:

  • Vocabulary builders with student-friendly pronunciation keys for new words.
  • Adapted readings for students reading below grade level.
  • Student-friendly writing checklists and models for all student writing tasks.
  • Writing instruction to support reading.

Students focus on before, during, and after reading strategies while analyzing expository and narrative reading passages.  Students work on their pre-writing skills and paragraph development towards writing successful expository essays and narratives.

Students will read literature with social studies and science content in genres including fiction, non-fiction, expository non-fiction, realistic fiction, fantasy, humorous fiction, narrative non-fiction, dramas/plays, traditional tales, animal fiction, historical fiction, autobiographies, and biographies.

                               Math Skill Builder Programs

Our K-6 Math Program features Scott Foresman’s Math Around the Clock.  This flexible, research-based program reinforces key math skills for at-risk students.  Math Around the Clock helps you provide targeted, individualized instruction to help every child stay on grade level. Lessons are organized by content strand and are designed to be taught in 45-60 minute teaching periods. The materials for every activity and lesson in the program are provided with each student workbook, including graph paper, dot paper, fraction strips, and base-ten blocks.

Our 7-8th Grade Math Program features the Prentice Hall Skill Builder Program.  It maximizes your student's problem solving and test prep skills!  The Math Skill Builder student workbooks feature special sections including:

  • Now You Try It—allows for individualized practice.
  • Test Prep—gives students standardize test practice under "mini" test conditions.
  • A Little Something Different—fun explorations using the skills covered in the section.
  • Something Different—as part of the section wrap-up, this includes engaging activities to reinforce what was learned so far; can be individual or group work.

 AMP Reading

Publisher:  Prentice Hall

The AMP Reading System is a complete, scientifically research-based reading system for striving middle- and high-school readers who are reading at a third- to fifth-grade level. It provides three full years of reading intervention instruction.  The AMP Reading System combines the highest level of research-based techniques with high-interest, student-selected topics, and incorporates the explicit instructional routine based on the evidence of the National Reading Panel, of which program author Dr. Timothy Shanahan was a member.

Features:

  • Teaches one reading comprehension strategy at a time, beginning with those that have shown to result in the fastest student gains.
  • Builds valuable academic vocabulary students need to read successfully across the academic content areas.
  • Increases fluency through guided oral reading using teacher modeling, direct instruction, research insights, and practice.
  • Keeps striving readers fully motivated and engaged with the combination of colorful, age-appropriate design, and high-interest, nonfiction topics.
